Caption - Italian State Railways (FS) 2-6-2 685.032 at Udine in May 1968. These four-cylinder locos were known by crews as the 'Queens' and provided the motive power for express trains across Italy. Based on the earlier class 680, the 685's were superheated with simple expansion and a total of 271 were placed in service between 1912 and 1928. In addition, 120 680 class were rebuilt as 685's.
